Just Start Walking is an initiative from the World Federation of Chiropractic, a global non-profit association that was admitted into official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) as a non-governmental organization in January 1997. As a member organisation of the World Federation of Chiropractic, the Australian Chiropractors Association has adapted the program for use in Australia.
Chiropractors are spinal health experts, and take this responsibility very seriously. They work hard to educate their patients and the general public about the relationship between structure (primarily the spine, and pelvis) and function (as coordinated by the nervous systems) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.
In short, this means that your overall health can be affected by the health of your spine. The human body was designed for movement, so to keep your spine at its best, we should stay active. In other words, a healthier spine means a healthier life!
The Just Start Walking initiative was developed to raise awareness about the importance of keeping active, the benefits this can offer to your overall well-being and spinal health, as well as providing an easy-to-use program to help encourage regular physical activity.
Just Start Walking Australia is designed to prompt people around Australia to, quite simply, just start walking.
