The next AICE Sports & Exercise webinar, titled Agility Application in Sport will be held Wednesday 24 August 2022 and presented by Nicholas Richardson.

The webinar will provide an overview of agility and its relationship to sporting success. Mr Richardson will demonstrate a needs analysis of agility in AFL football and detail the different elements that make up successful agility application. He will outline his coaching model of agility, and how to progress the many actions that make up successful application of agility in the sporting context. This will include practical applications of this model within a professional sporting environment.

Learning Outcomes

Attendees will learn to:

  • understand what agility is in the sporting context;
  • develop understanding of the specific physical, technical and cognitive skills required for elite performance;
  • understand the foundational elements of my agility model;
  • be able to apply these elements with an athlete, in a sporting environment


Nicholas Richardson

Nicholas Richardson is current Head of Athletic Development at Western Heights College. He also work as the strength coach for Geelong Football Club Womans program, run a rehabilitation and athletic development private business and have recently worked with the Australian Boomers Basketball team in their world cup qualifiers and Asia Cup tournament.

His previous roles in high performance sport include the Adelaide 36’ers Basketball Team, the Port Adelaide Football Club and the Geelong Football a Club. He has also worked in rehabilitation at the Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin, and in various other roles at organisations including Geelong Grammar School, Deakin University and the Barwon sports Academy.

Nicholas’s interest areas include the physical development of high-performance athletes, rehabilitation and the return to play process, strength planning, coaching and the influence of motor leaning for skill transfer.
